Simon de Bruyn, over at IF, reported today that box office takings for AFTRS graduate Warwick Thornton’s award winning Samson & Delilah is “steaming towards $2m” with expectations it will hit the two million dollar milestone this weekend……

As Simon points out in his post, the track record to date for Thornton’s feautre debut, being distributed by Footprint Films is:
+ Opening weekend :$ 199.163

+ Weeks in release: 5

+ Box office total to date: $1,793, 795

It is a fantastic result proving that Australian films CAN win awards and still generate appeal for cinema going audiences – let’s hope this is just the start of good things for Warwick and his creative collaborators.
