
The Australian Writers’ Guild has just announced via their newsletter the nominees for the 42nd annual AWGIE Awards to be presented in Sydney on August 28 and we are delighted to have quite a few AFTRS alumni in the nominee list.
This year is proving to be a great year for Australian feature films reflected in the scripts nominated in the Original Feature Film category including the debut features Samson and Delilah and Cedar Boys by AFTRS graduate Warwick Thornton and Serhat Caradee , respectively.
Rachel Perkins’ latest project Bran Nue Dae has made the cut as have two episodes of her landmark series for SBS First Australians – (Episodes 1 and 3), and Christopher Lee also received two nominations for Episodes 1 & 4 of the TV series Rush .
Saved by Belinda Chayko is nommed and Mary Max of which AFTRS graduate Melanie Coombes produced is there.
