With the goal of providing a reflective and culturally oriented publication for the screen arts & broadcast community AFTRS last week launched a new, 180 page journal called: LUMINA.
Created as vehicle to provide space for cultural reflection and analysis LUMINA was created to share the thoughts and ideas of people who want to have a dialogue about film and story – both the art and business of it.
LUMINA deliberates on current issues relevant to the Australian screen arts and broadcast sector through essays, interviews and reflections from the industry’s leading thinkers and practitioners and the first issue includes:
+ What Now? a piece by Baz Luhrmann written just after filming on Australia wrapped.
+ Why Australian Producers should think more like Distributors – a report commissioned by AFTRS from Vincent Sheehan
+ Three transcripts from our Friday on My Mind talks (held every Friday at AFTRS Sydney at 5pm) featuring; Warwick Thronton & Kath Shelper, Jan Chapman and Nico Lathouris
+ Three transcripts from the Knowledge (a series of interviews commissioned by AFTRS’ Centre for Screen Business) featuring Jonathan Chissick, Paul Wiegard and Jonathan M Shiff
+ A retrospective on Tod Browning and the origins of Horror in American Cinema by David Stratton and other essays on genre including the Musical, Horror and Self Help
and more…..
